Cartonboard ensures a working and environmentally friendly recycling cycle.

Forest cycle
Forest and cartonboard corporations practise sustainable forestry. Thus new forests grow again and again.
Cartonboard is produced from tree populations which have to be cut down anyway. The so called primary fibre cartonboard is a naturally renewable resource of high quality.

Folding box / packaging cycle Cartonboard consisting of over 80% recycling fibres is made of waste paper. K+D uses this cartonboard for the production and finishing of packaging and displays.

Global cycle
If the fibres of the waste paper are too short, they can only be partially used for the production of secondary fibre cartonboards. Then their biodegradation or combustion releases CO2 which is transformed to O2 by photosynthesis. Each tree absorbs up to 4 tons CO2 per year

Ecological advantage
More than two out of three consumers prefer cartonboard packagings due to their ecological advantages.

  • Cartonboard / waste paper has the highest recycling quota of 70%
  • Certain cartonboard qualities consist of 95% waste paper
  • The biodegradability of cartonboard is excellent
