Successful Go-live with new ERP
K+D is continuing to invest in 2011 in the continuous improvement of our processes and thus in human resources and equipment. At the beginning of April, K+D went live with the new ERP solution by Microsoft Dynamix AX from KCS.net and Lean Projects. This state-of-art and fully-integrated ERP system integrates all of the enterprise's processes (incl. operating data acquisition with machine interfacing). Thanks to the enormous effort put in by all of the project stakeholders in the course of the tightly managed 10-month project, our ability to deliver was ensured at all times. "We can truly say that this has been a very good start", states Stefan Kuhn, the President of the Board of Directors.
World Premiere with Cycled Cold Foil Finishing Unit
At the end of April, K+D in St.Gallen installed and commissioned the world's first cycled, inline cold foil finishing unit by manroland on a six colour offset printing machine. This makes K+D the largest cold foil finishing provider for folded boxes in the whole of Switzerland.
Thanks to this brand-new high-tech development, we can now produce folded boxes in an even more ecological and cost efficient way. K+D again assumes industry leadership with this technology.
Third Generation of CTP Systems at K+D
In 1999, K+D was the first packaging printer in Switzerland to introduce digital pre-press and the first to invest in a CTP system. Just one year later, production moved completely to 100% digital, completely dropping films.

Just a few weeks ago, the third generation CTP imagesetter (a Fujifilm Luxel V-8 from Chromos AG) went operational in St.Gallen. This violet technology system with washing unit and violet platens represents the current state-of-art in ecological systems, using just 4% of the chemicals required by the previous violet systems, which had already considerably reduced the use of chemicals.
Boosting Capacity again with Bobst Gluing Machine Number Five
Due to increasing demand, a fifth Bobst gluing machine was commissioned in St.Gallen, raising gluing performance by 25 %.
