K+D in major investment and productivity move
Digital Offset Printing – Commissioning of 8-Colour Printing Machine – Replacement of Die-Cutting Machines
K+D supports Switzerland as a business location and is not only commissioning the biggest 8-colour printing machine in the east of the country but also bringing the investments earmarked for 2017/2018 forwards to the end of 2016 for productivity reasons and replacing two older die-cutting machines with two Bobst ‘Expertcut 106 PER’.
K+D commissioned its new flagship at a customer party held on Friday, 2 September. For the finishing of pharmaceutical and cosmetics packaging, the new printing machine from ‘manroland’ has 8 offset printing and 2 coating units: these enable either 8-colour printing and double coating, or cold-foiling with simultaneous 6-colour printing and double coating. K+D therefore has a state-of-the-art, high-performance machine, whose configuration was tailored precisely to its customers’ order structure. This machine will make digital offset printing a reality – the perfect preparatory step towards digital printing. Thanks to this technology, colour differences between digitally printed labels and packaging are most definitely a thing of the past.
For productivity reasons, K+D is also investing earlier than scheduled in two of the newest ‘Bobst Expertcut 106 PER’ and will replace two older die-cutting machines by the end of the year.
Thanks to its prime location and extremely high quality of development, the new ‘Schuppis 10’ office and production building of the sister company K+D Immo AG is already three-quarters let. ‘Working in a superb climate’ is a total success.
“With the new ‘Schuppis 10’ production and administration building, which should be occupied by the end of 2016, we are investing now in the most modern and productive offset and die-cutting technology available. Maximum productivity and a pioneering role in terms of technology are the measure of all things in Switzerland. This is a further commitment to Switzerland as a business location and a well-deserved demonstration of the confidence we have in our customers and employees!” says Stefan Kuhn, Chairman and CEO of K+D AG.
The total investment made by the K+D Group from 2015 to 2017 is therefore well over CHF 30 million, making the firm superbly well equipped for challenging market requirements in the future.
